The Vast Array Of Flowers And Their Uses
Most popular flowers are well known for their symbology but some of the lesser known ones are quite interesting.
Madrones are ornamental flowering plants that symbolize that the the giver loves the recipient and no one else. Asparagus indicates fascination. Azalea’s in China are a symbol of womanhood. Irish shellflowers are a wish for luck.
Giving cabbage indicates the giver wishes the receiver to have profit but don’t give lettuce because that indicates the giver thinks the receiver is cold-hearted.Didn’t catch that? This explains it. So be careful when you pick out the plant at the supermarket!
Lime blossoms indicate a desire for fornification. No luck finding those at the supermarket while shopping for lettuce though, sadly.
It’s a good thing some of these meanings aren’t in use as much. Offering someone mint is meant to convey suspicion. Maybe that’s why the mint candy and gum doesn’t have any flowers on it, so as to detract from the old language of flowers.
Straw indicates unity.
So what have we learned from this? If we want a good time, offer straw and lime flowers. For permanence, the recommendation is to fall back to roses which are still universally recognized as indicating love in all its gradients.
